April CPCU Educational Webinar on Current Issues in Workers Compensation Insurance

Topic Summary:

  • According to a report from The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)  almost 20% of the workers’ compensation premium issued in the United States protects a California based worker.  All California employers are required to carry it, which makes workers’ compensation insurance an integral part of the California economy.   This meeting will include a workers’ compensation overview that covers the COVID-19 updates, statutory and regulatory activity, and recent case law.

Sara joined the CWCI in January 2022.  Ms. Widener-Brightwell received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and her law degree from San Joaquin College of Law. As CWCI General Counsel, Sara’s responsibilities include managing the Institute’s internal and external legal affairs; serving as staff liaison to the Legal Committee; analyzing regulatory and legal issues affecting California workers’ compensation; and helping to develop and present Institute research and legal programs
